The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India co-hosted the ‘CALL TO ACTION SUMMIT 2015 ending preventable child and maternal deaths’ with the Ministry of Health, Government of Ethiopia, in partnership with partnership with USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation the Tata Trusts, UNICEF, UK Aid and WHO. This was the third summit in the series of events, which started in 2012, and are documented as ‘Acting on the Call, 2014’
The ministers, heads of country delegations of 22 countries, and Heads of Development agencies gathered in New Delhi from August 27-28, 2015 for the Third Global Call to Action Summit for ending preventable child and maternal deaths.
Inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the two day summit acknowledged the remarkable progress achieved in reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality and the global partnerships, support and resources mobilized to achieve these gains and save over 100 million lives since 1990.
VRIDDHI hosted the Secretariat for the Summit. It supported the MoHFW and USAID to coordinate development partners’ inputs, participated in the various sub-groups and collated their inputs for the different aspects/ features of the summit such as Market place, Coffee table book, follow up on participants from different countries, logistics, protocols and venue management
