Haryana, is a state with a population of 25 million, of which 65% reside in rural areas and 35% in urban areas. Counted among the economically well performing states, the progress in economy has not translated into a commensurate improvement in health indicators. Haryana has 21 districts, which include five High Priority Districts (HPDs).
VRIDDHI Focus Districts:: Jind, Hisar, Mewat, Palwal and Panipat.
VRIDDHI Interventions: : VRIDDHI is implementing its Care around Birth Approach in 31 high case load delivery points in the five focus districts.
The methodology includes a series of activities by the team such as Training 267 Staff Nurses and Medical Officers, Onsite Guidance and Mentoring, Identification of specialists as champions, Facility level quality improvement have also been formed to resolve issues and overcome challenges. VRIDDHI team also conducts regular supportive supervision of delivery points in the five HPDs to highlight any gaps and provide a flow of information to the state and Government of India. VRIDDHI has supported the Government of Haryana to conduct a school based student health survey to understand prevalence of ‘protective’ and ‘risk factors’ of lifestyle diseases among school going adolescents to develop a comprehensive communication strategy, tailored to address their health and development challenges.
